Get to know me
Choosing a counsellor is first and foremost about choosing another human being who you think that you might 'gel' with. So this is me, Amy. It's nice to meet you.
I'm proud to have trained and worked as a therapist in East London and I'm excited to bring back what I learnt there to the East Midlands. I love the hustle, bustle and mix of cultures that you find in the big city, but I now truly appreciate the countryside, the pace of life and the peace that you can find up here.
I love being a counsellor - its an absolute honour to walk alongside my clients, hear their truths and to witness their journeys. There is honestly no job that I'd rather do and I feel incredibly lucky and grateful to have found my vocation.
I've previously worked as a teacher, a therapist, a mentor and a coach across a range of settings including prisons, pupil referral units, secondary and primary schools, community counselling services and now my very own private practice. I've also worked as a singer and I'm a great believer in the value of the arts for wellbeing, as well as someone who understands the pressures faced by those working in the arts (and the stresses faced by those working in the education system, as an ex-teacher).
I'm very serious about the wellbeing of my clients but I also believe that humanity, humility and sometimes even humour (when appropriate) are essential to the work that I do. I want you to feel comfortable to be able to bring your whole self to sessions.
If you think that we might be a good fit and you'd like to find our more about working with me, then just drop me an email using the contact form below and I'll get back to you within 48 hours to arrange a free consultation.
If you'd like to find out a bit more about me then feel free to have a look at my blog posts or social media.
